For many years, “Russia, Russia, Russia” was such effective propaganda, wide swaths of the American public looked away from what was right in their face: Trump for president was a Russian initiative. As with Hitler, Trump became a catch-all figure for grievances. If his base didn’t see Russia’s hand in his rise, it’s because it didn’t fit the narrative.
In 2026, there are no more fig leaves. Trump for president was always a Russian initiative. That US oligarchs and religious extremists aligned with Kremlin interests backed him does not absolve America of its sin of not defending against Russian active measures to change the course for OUR history. How dare our intelligence agencies leave us wide open to becoming Belarus of the West. How dare them. I guess the money was just too good when former directors of the FBI and CIA turned ‘lobbyists’ started taking that Russian mob cash.

I encourage people in my latest appearance on The Thom Hartmann Program to not look away from the war that Russia is waging on the entirety of Western civilization, and to understand that Trump is just one piece of this war.
