• Sunday, Jan. 12, 4 pm PT — Author Dr. Nancy MacLean joins Bette’s Speakeasy to discuss US Resistance efforts and her updated version of Democracy In Chains.

I am looking so forward to seeing Bette members tomorrow at our weekly Happy Hour — note earlier time: 9 am Pacific, noon Eastern. Just a quick check-in with special guests to wish everyone a beautiful holiday.

As I wrote last week, there is love among these ruins. We just need to know where to look.

One place we find the love is when we come together in a community. I have been meeting with so many allies in real life, ready to face down what is coming our way — we do not accept a fascist America, and as Nancy MacLean taught us, we must be ready for the criminals when they overstep and abuse their power.

Collectively, we are always stronger than we think. I made the commitment in 2024 to spend more time reading books, and less time on anti-social media and it has served me well. I will compile an ebook version of my reports from the Weimar years asap.

As Marci Shore taught us, history does not tell us what we will happen, it only offers suggestions.
