“If you want regime change, bomb the Kremlin.”—me on Twitter, February 28, 2026
Yesterday, I woke up to the news that my interview from January 3 on Radio Free America had been published.
The morning the interview occurred, the Trump regime was invading Venezuela, and I was asked how I felt. I explained my theory on ‘clickbait fascism’ — how every day, Trump must be made to appear that he’s vanquishing perceived enemies.
As I listened back to the interview on Saturday, I realized that my response would have been the same if the interview took place yesterday, when the Trump regime invaded Iran.
How’s that regime change working out in Venezuela? How is a dictator owned by the Kremlin gonna make peace when he’s building concentration camps in the US and encouraging his brownshirts to murder people in the streets?
I am savoring every word of RadPod’s latest interview with Ukrainian historian Tetiana Boriak, who understands that there’s an undeclared war on all mankind.
And unless people get savvy to the cognitive war on all of us, the world will remain easily duped by dictators.
I’m very grateful that I was invited to speak truth to power on Radio Free America, Prague edition. My father was born in Czechoslovakia, and in the house I grew up in, the shadows of horrors of World War II were ever present.
Here’s the interview:
Thank you to all the new subscribers from the Czech Republic. My reporting on your heroic Václav Havel is some of my most important work.
More on Radio Free America, Prague:
An American living in Czechia. A Czech woman living in the United States. Natalie Kocab and Alex Alvarová are building a bridge between America and Europe at a moment when democracy is under attack on both sides of the Atlantic. Radio Free America is a bilingual media project inspired by the legacy of Radio Free Europe—created to deliver information, context, and hope where certainty is fading and propaganda fills the void.
We bring timely news from the U.S., early warning signals from Europe, context on the war in Ukraine, and hard-earned lessons from countries that have already lost—or are losing—their democracies. Through conversations with journalists, activists, artists, and voices ignored by social-media algorithms and mainstream media, we offer Americans European experience and perspective. Because we believe that looking beyond our own bubbles, overcoming language barriers, and truly understanding one another is essential to defending our democracy, human dignity, and even truth itself.
As I read the collective works of Anna Politkovskaya, I am grateful more than ever to all the brave women speaking truth to power in a time of grave danger.
