Dear Heidi,
The situation continues to develop in Kherson/Oleshky. I am reaching out to ask for your help in preventing a major Kremlin information and psychological operation. I believe journalists and influential voices can play a crucial role in countering the Russian propaganda machine.
As you know, a US-brokered humanitarian ceasefire is scheduled to begin in Oleshky on October 29, with the US network Newsmax and other Trump-supporting journalists receiving exclusive camera access to the operation.
I have information confirming that Moscow is preparing to exploit the visit for a major disinformation campaign, presenting itself as the rescuer of civilians while shifting responsibility for the humanitarian catastrophe onto Ukraine.
On October 7, Ukraine’s Security Service warned that Russian forces were preparing staged interviews with residents blaming Ukrainian forces for the crisis. The Kremlin has used similar controlled press tours in Mariupol and other occupied Ukrainian territories. It is critical to alert the international community to this planned propaganda campaign before the Kremlin’s version of events dominates global coverage.
I am currently reporting from Kherson, obtaining exclusive footage of humanitarian deliveries, documented evidence, and contacts with witnesses, volunteers, and Ukrainian officials. Any public statement, article, or post warning about the impending disinformation campaign would be really appreciated. Getting the word out before the operation begins could make a real difference.
