The Tactical Error of Quote Tweeting Creeps
A quick reminder on the ongoing tactical failure of promoting propaganda videos by quote tweeting them, and therefore delivering their emotional payload

I woke up this morning to Twitter on fire. A shitty Trump AI video was polluting my timeline, as the smartest people I know were disparaging it while still quote-tweeting the video.
I couldn’t unsee it — ye olde phrase ‘bleach my eyes’ was on repeat in my mind.
This is just a quick reminder that we are already a decade into the information war. By now, it should be clear that it’s a tactical failure to include the propaganda video in one’s disparaging comment. You can address it, without promoting it. Words can get the job done just fine, without forcing your readers to also view diarrhea.
These videos operate at an emotional level. If you forward the video you’re delivering its emotional payload whether that was your intention or not.
“The algorithm doesn’t care about your feelings or motives. It just chalks up another view for Trump. Outrage makes money,” NAFO founding member Matthew Pearce told Bette Dangerous.
It is, however, fine to transform the original video with satire. You can superimpose a little duckling walking across the video or a protester in a chicken suit.
As long as you scuttle the emotional payload, you’re good to go.
