The veteran newsie in me lives by the mantra that news delayed is news denied. So when I asked political philosopher Dr Michael MacKay for a statement I could read from him at Bette’s upcoming geopolitical Happy Hour, Part 2, he zipped off the following note to me. I wanted him to give us a new way of looking at Trump in the broader sense of the geopolitical landscape, how’s he’s just another pro-Putin tinpot. It was MacKay who taught me that to Putin, Trump is just another Yanukovych. MacKay’s statement is so powerful, I wanted to share it with you today.

Trump-for-President is a Russian active measure. To understand what that means we have to ignore everything Americans think and feel about Trump and consider only what he is to Russians. From the Russian point of view, the question is very simple: How can Trump be manipulated to do and not do things that will benefit Russia’s war against Western civilization?
Trump is a special kind of Russian asset known as a Useful Idiot. This is a term of art of Chekist warfare and the words must be considered together. At different times Trump may be useful or useless – he may be an idiot or not. But at all times is a Useful Idiot. The Russians use reflexive control so that Trump thinks he came up with ideas on his own. Trump thinks he came up with the ideas that the U.S. has to have Greenland or Crimea is really Russian or Obama and Biden started the war or Ukraine can never win. But all these ideas originated with Russians. Trump is such an imbecile he can never do any positive good for Russia – but he will inevitably inflict great harm on the United States and its allies. Trump will screw everything up and that suits the Russians just fine.
Russia wants one thing above all else: to annihilate the Ukrainian nation. Putin knows he cannot conquer Ukraine military. But he dreamed he could exploit his Useful Idiot Trump to stop the United States from supporting Ukraine and also keep NATO from fulfilling its mission of providing collective security. Putin’s dreams were realized completely and the Trump-for-President active measure turned out to be the greatest act of Chekist warfare in the history of the Moscow empire.—Dr. Michael MacKay for Bette Dangerous
