A dream sequence in three acts

Each time I check the news from America, I see Donald Trump working hard to save Russia, the wellspring of paranoia and hatred.

The long-compromised reality TV actor isn’t even pretending. He’s all in on saving Russia from total collapse. The fact is, any positive outcome for Ukraine represents the demise of Putin’s regime.

Dream Sequence, Act I

I had a dream last night that I was sitting with former Fox colleagues, who had lost their humanity. They were immigrants bashing immigrants, and as if in a horror film, they were lapping up Trump and Musk’s Putinist propaganda, like they were feasting on a grave.

I said to them: “I can’t sit here with you and listen to this. You used to be so decent, and now you’re so cruel. Remember, when you were of service to those who needed help? Remember a time before cruelty possessed your souls? I hope you find your way back.”

Dream Sequence, Act II

And through raging fires, I made my way to a classroom, where Peter Thiel was sitting in the front desk wearing a fisherman’s hat and tying a lure.

I said to him, “Maybe because we’re both German, I feel comfortable asking you this, but can you tell me why you spent your money on making people hate? The world cannot survive unless we look after each other. Why are you paying for so much cruelty and do you understand that you will not survive this hate either? I can see it eating you alive. We need to reach out to the most in need and lift them up, not crush them under the weight of your imperial ambitions.”

He got up from the desk, grabbed his fishing gear, and without taking his eyes off me, he said nothing. He exited the classroom, backing his way out through the door.

Dream Sequence, Act III

I then saw a creature in a pond, both spider and urchin. It was doing an incredible magic trick of morphing in and out of spiky camouflage. It would be nearly invisible and then spikes would appear like swords. It did this trick over and over.

And then I heard a voice whisper:

“If there is no God, we are fucked, because what we are facing is beyond human power to defeat.”

True, I thought.

And I prayed and I prayed and I prayed for the restoration of humanity.

If each of us works hard to restore our humanity, which the technofascists have intentionally drained us of, remembering to love and to love and to love, we may still be able to save the world.
