Tis the season, so stay well everyone, and we will be rescheduling with him soon. Maksym wrote the important book, Russian Colonialism 101, and he is featured in my column from today:
Bette’s Pre-Thanksgiving Happy Hour with Jen Senko!
Our guest on Tuesday is Jen Senko, the award-winning filmmaker of The Brainwashing of My Dad film. She will be sharing her reflections and suggestions in a special pre-Thanksgiving Happy Hour.
We all have MAGA family, and it’s understandable that the desire to see them over the holidays is diminished. But as Jen will explain, there is hope for getting our family members back from undue influence. She will explain how she and her mom ran an operation to regain her father from the clutches of Fox and Rush, and will offer us help and guidance.
More on Jen here:
Jen Senko is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Her film, The Brainwashing of My Dad, narrated by acclaimed actor Matthew Modine, explores the rise of right-wing media and its hidden aim of establishing one-party rule in the U.S. The film is a deeply personal story, told through the lens of her father, whose personality and politics were dramatically altered after he became an avid talk radio listener.
This widely acclaimed documentary has received numerous awards, including the prestigious 2021 Webby People’s Voice Award in Public Service & Activism. It’s been screened in festivals and theaters across the U.S., as well as in Canada, Ireland, and Sweden, and is available on VOD and DVD. Senko’s two previous films, Road Map Warrior Women and The Vanishing City, are also socio-political documentaries that have received critical acclaim.
Jen speaks regularly at social justice organizations, sharing insights from her film, her experiences, and her book—an adaptation of The Brainwashing of My Dad, published in October 2021.
