***Members supporting me at the premium level are invited to our monthly Founder’s Day salon, Sunday February 4, 2024, 1:30 pm PT. Registration link is below the paywall, and guests can upgrade to Founding Member here or at the subscribe button.***

So many of you upgraded to Founding Member — supporting my work at the highest level — which funds me to keep doing my work, and also allows me to offer annual discounts to those who can use a break.

So last year, I wanted to figure out how I could give back, and I created the monthly Founder’s Day salon.

We launched in August with Keir Giles, author of Russia’s War On Everybody, so it feels fitting as the paperback version of his book just became available in the US and UK that we celebrate with the return Keir. He is a great friend, and a mentor, and I have been reporting with him since 2019, when I first discovered his NATO Handbook on Russian Information Warfare.

I am sensitive to the various financial situations of members of this community, and although Founding Memberships default to $210 annually, I have made Founding memberships to include anything above the full annual rate — so those who wish to upgrade to Founding Member can do so by typing in their own amount above a full annual subscription.

In addition, members who were first to support me at the full annual rate have been added to the Founder’s List. Many of you are renewing at $70 and above and I am truly humbled and grateful. Please accept a Founding Member upgrade as a thank you. Lastly, some OG members and new members will find they are able to access the registration. Your words of kindness and encouragement are a currency and allow me to give back.

All paid members will continue to receive invites to our Speakeasys, Happy Hours, and full archives. You are all VIPs, and I am very grateful.

Speaking of which, we will be joined by author Anne Nelson at our Happy Hour Tuesday, Feb. 13, noon PT, so save that date!

Here is more information on our guest:

RUSSIA’S WAR ON EVERYBODY — Bette’s Founder’s Day featuring Keir Giles

  • Sunday, February 4, 1:30 pm PT/4:30 pm ET

    • Author and Russian cyberwar expert Keir Giles is a Senior Consulting Fellow with the Russia and Eurasia Programme of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) in London. He is also a director of the Conflict Studies Research Centre, a group of subject matter experts in Eurasian security, based in Northamptonshire, UK.

After a brief career in the Royal Air Force, followed by travelling widely in the Soviet Union during his first degree in Russian, Keir Giles co-founded the first company providing Western pilots the opportunity to fly Soviet military aircraft, operating from sites near Moscow and in Crimea. He went on to write for several years as Russia correspondent for a range of military and civilian aviation journals. Giles is the author of "Moscow Rules: What Drives Russia to Confront the West"(Brookings, January 2019), an examination of the persistent factors causing relations with Russia to fall into crisis. His latest book, "Russia's War on Everybody" (Bloomsbury, 2022) examines the human impact of Russia's covert warfare waged against the West.

      • Since Russia’s War on Everybody is now out on paperback, I ask Bette members who can afford to do so, to please support the work of our guests by purchasing their books. If you have already purchased the book in hardcover, the paperback has a new preface.

Onward and upward.
