Looking forward to another productive chat with geopolitical analyst Joni Askola, who lives in Finland, as he walks us through some of his latest threads exposing social media CEOs as they interfere with democratic elections.
Askola is a frequent Bette guest, and among the vocal observers who see how democratic nations are handicapped when the reality of Russia’s attacks are ignored:
Russia is also waging a very successful hybrid war on other European countries through sabotage, cyberattacks, assassinations, economic warfare, intimidation, and disinformation campaigns. This war started long before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Tuesday, we’ll be discussing one of his latest threads on how Telegram CEO Pavel Durov tried to interfere with Moldova’s recent election, with Elon Musk tag-teaming, and how both of them failed.
As Joni told me: “It’s great that they failed in Moldova but they’re used to failing in some places and succeeding in others. EU countries have more value to them because of being able to block EU decisions.”
