BETTE’S HAPPY HOUR WITH BRENT ALLPRESS:
CLEAR THE STATIC
OG Bette members already know Brent from his many visits with us over the past two years. And RadPod fans also know Brent, a New Zealand-born activist now in Australia, whose OSINT investigative work played a vital role in informing key films — such as Bad Faith, where he was the key researcher, and Dr. Charles Kriel and Kat Gellen’s film on Data & Disinformation: Investigating Cambridge Analytica.
Brent also informed the January 6 Committee, and exposed the Council for National Policy’s meetings and membership, while also exposing the data mining operations Gloo and Cru.
I’m not only greatly informed by his research, he’s also a pal. His sense of humor and optimism has seen through some rough patches, and he has also come to my defense multiple times. When the online terrorist brigade stalks people I work with — on campaigns and in my journalism career — Brent is the first to write thoughtful responses that explain that my support of the excellent work of my podcast partners Jim Stewartson and High Fidelity is dangerous to those who have much to hide. (Speaking of Jim, I look so forward to sharing more details on the play created about Jim and his work that just debuted in Sweden at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm in coming days. Very, very exciting stuff!)
Like Marty, Wes, Alexandra, Jackie Singh, Jim and HiFi, there are people I rely on to keep my head up as I plow on. Brent Allpress is one of those people.
He has been creating music based on the work of Bette Dangerous and RadPod, and if we are lucky, he might play some.
More about Brent here:
Brent Allpress is a Melbourne-based New Zealand academic. His OSInt research featured in the documentary Data & Disinformation: Investigating Cambridge Analytica revealed Cambridge Analytica and Gloo exploited mental health data for microtargeting. He is also the key researcher on the film, Bad Faith. He has exposed clandestine Council for National Policy campaigns and uncovered StoptheSteal at its inception. Allpress shared his findings with the J6 Committee and is leading a charge to have the CNP forensically investigated for its role in the attempted coup and in what he describes as a Judicial coup.
Brent has some pro-democracy messaging for us as we sail into November, helping us ‘Clear the Static’ — the title of one of his new songs.
For those who are new to Bette Dangerous, here is a RadPod interview with Brent, where we discussed the film Bad Faith:
Look forward to seeing many of you on Tuesday!
