We had a brilliant Happy Hour with retired IRS criminal investigator Martin Sheil, who updated us on Trump’s court cases and reminded us where we need to apply pressure — media, DOJ. People power does work, as we just saw with the canning of Ronna McDaniel, and the Big Democratic Win in Alabama last week.

As we have learned from our friend David Pepper, going on offense works. Not getting trapped in the circus of despair works. Yes, we need to be informed on where things stand on holding Trump’s vast criminality to account, but our democratic challenges are bigger than one Bad Actor. There is much we can and will do between now and November.

That is why I’m bringing David Pepper back for a ‘Pepper’ Rally. His visits with the Bette Dangerous community have had massive returns — in Ohio, in Tennessee, in phone banking, postcarding, messaging.

We’ll kick it off swiftly at noon California time, and he’ll give us an update on his travels throughout America, what’s working, where we need to focus, and the success of his mission to get candidates to run everywhere. If there’s time, we’ll try to get to some questions.

I often think about the silver linings of dedicating myself to the fight for democracy and among the first things I think about are the brilliant people I have met along the way. David Pepper is one of the great Americans in this moment.

I had the opportunity to take him to Pann’s Restaurant near LAX — a 1958 diner — and as it turns out, he loves classic diners.

We are so blessed to have people like him guiding us in this time.
