Ruth Ben-Ghiat created a sacred space for activists when she debuted Lucid. Her vast knowledge and the wisdom of the group increased the breadth of understanding so necessary when doing this work.
I have been thematically writing about how vital it is that Americans unite the chasms between us to thwart the further weakening of our country.
In addition, I have been putting a lot of thought into why Americans can look at the same event and have such different responses.
And this morning, Ruth — in her effortless, brilliant way — once again put into words what I have been trying to say.
She talked about “the conformists” — those who prop up monsters who are actively engaging in the destruction of democracy, as if they are just garden variety media and tech moguls. She referred to Lachlan Murdoch being invited to speak at media events, when the organization he heads has literally been poisoning millions away from truth and democracy, while also engaging in criminal acts.
And today, I see video of a red-nosed Elon Musk dancing on stage at Tesla’s Cyber Roundtable from the Annual Shareholder Meeting in Texas, the crowd cheering “Elon! Elon! Elon!” Despite it being rather clear with even the most cursory review, Musk is another Kremlin proxy actively sabotaging democracy.
In order to create that shared narrative of truth, America has to admit it made a mistake in the ‘90s doing business with Russia, who under Putin has devolved into a fascist dictatorship mafia state. People like Murdoch and Musk and the other monsters in my series represent clear and present dangers to our national security and the very survival of democracy. So referring to them in other way just stokes unreality — a precursor to fascism.
The conformists, who out of fear or for financial incentives, delay that truth and that is very dangerous.
So today, I am boosting the first 14 investigations in my American Monster series about the network of criminals accelerating global fascism, because I am hoping that with each report, truth will rise up and the conformists who normalize them will be shunned and shamed.

As Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones prop up genocidal maniac Aleksandr Dugin, and Erik Prince is shipping ‘kill-switch’ phones for the next insurrection while spewing racist rhetoric, and Elon Musk has invited neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes back on Twitter, and Roger Stone continues to lie about his role in plotting J6, and Mike Flynn goes on Steve Bannon’s show to spew propaganda about a “marxist communist takeover” while ginning up violence daily, while Bannon himself is due in prison on July 1, ten days before convicted felon Trump is sentenced, I realized that what the first 14 members of my American Monster series have in common is they are united in their complete assault on reality.
I often think about what Ukrainian soldier Volodymyr Demchenko said on RadPad about how Russia’s lies are ruining the world and why Dante put lying traitors in the worst place in hell—because they’re creating a world that doesn’t exist and forcing people to live in it.
The Monsters and Propagandists in this series are serving some kind of evil, and it’s important to expose them.
For America to survive whole, these Monsters must be neutralized. Clearly, we must have the ability to serve them for their crimes against humanity.
We are a decade into the Great Information War, and these men I profile are engaging in menticide.
An orchestrated mind war is not free speech.
Monsters are less scary in daylight. Why I do this… to expose and defang them, and because someone has to do it.
