Kindness is contagious. Tonight, to celebrate the new paid memberships that flooded in overnight, I treated myself to an oat Chai tea latte at Starbucks in Old Town. When I walked inside, the line was longer than usual, and behind me rushed in a sprite of a woman waving cash. Apparently, her credit card had been declined, so she ran to her car for cash and then rushed back to the register.
When the barista told her she still owed $8.95, she asked him to start removing items. I who have nothing but the power of my pen said from the back of the line, “I got you.” And paid the difference. She was worried about the tip. I said, “I got you.”
And then I returned to the back of the line. She thanked me, and we started talking about my Native American bracelets, which I wear as armor to protect me from evil. She said, “You know those protect you.” I said, “I do.”
She said, “You know that you will be blessed.”
I said, “I already am.”
She said, “Well, now you’re in the overflow. Expect many blessings…”
I thanked her, and retreated back into myself. Grateful to have met her.
When I got to the front of the line, the barista said, “Oh, this gift card is for you. The gentlemen over there wants to pay for your order.”
Kindness is contagious. A stranger bought my oat Chai tea latte. I went up to him, and thanked him. It was indeed a virtuous circle.
We all have the power in small ways and big ways to make the world more beautiful and gentle.
I know there is a lot of pain right now. I predicted that with news breaking that there was indeed a Russian operation to get Trump elected beyond a shadow of a fucking doubt - finally - that we would be subjected to a news cycle filled with violence and distractions and all kinds of terrible newsporn. I was not wrong.
People are hurting. I do not have a television, because my heart can’t take it.
But I see the lowlights on Twitter. Tucker Carlson is looping violence for exploitation and should be brought up on crimes against humanity with the other Russian propagandists. Ask me about his Daily Stormer partner’s hedge fund partner who was Bernie Madoff’s bean counter whose kids live in Russia. Go ahead, ask me.
Ask me about the police brutality that was the Darryl Gates era of the LAPD when I moved to Los Angeles to write Ice T’s book as the streets were still on fire after the Rodney King verdict. Ask me.
Not a damn thing’s changed. We have to keep working.
I received a beautiful letter from a member of law enforcement who thanked me for my work exposing disinformation and radicalization. The sender said their entire department is QAnon - including superiors.
Cognitive warfare is a national emergency.
Which is why we need to be kind. Extra kind. We cannot allow divisions and exploitations to wedge us further apart, because that will help the fascists.
Today I was asked to define fascism. A good reminder that RadPod will be creating boiler plate language - nut graphs - moving forward so as we grow our flock, we make sure everyone knows the score. I explained that fascism is a society ruled by a corrupt leader trying to hide corruption and corrupt allies, who control everything, and the people must abide.
I could never abide. It’s not in my DNA.
Tomorrow, I am dropping a bombshell story, and I will need you all to stay close to me. As you know, I am afraid of everything. But I’m more afraid of silence. Stay loud. Stay kind. Stay loving.
