ICYMI: American Monsters: And Then There Were 13
A series about the network of US criminals accelerating global fascism
***This compilation from my American Monster series was originally published on February 8, 2024. Each of these criminals — the living and the dead — are playing major roles in accelerating America’s troubles. As I was reading Timothy Snyder this morning, he reminded me of something we too often forget — Trump is an aspiring fascist who needs violence, but we need not fear him.
“We should see Trump for what he is: an aspiring fascist who likes, wants, and needs violence. But we need not fear him or his plans. There were not that many people assembled in Vandalia, and their reactions to Trump's rhetoric were muted. Some left before he was done. Although Trump himself has (absurdly) escaped punishment for his attempted coup, the foot soldiers of the last insurrection are in prison. Trump won't actually be able to pardon anyone this fall.”—Timothy D. Snyder, Thinking About
I find the quality of fear about as useless as despair, and equally debilitating. These are boogeymen, weak corrupt souls who long ago knew they were failures, and now behind curtains, they twaddle the knobs to create unreality with the hope they’ll postpone their inevitable dictator ending — dictator endings are never elegant.
If you find yourself obeying in advance, stop. Take a contrary action.
This series — American Monster — gives shape and form to the aspiring fascists, the whodunit and who’s doing it, a veritable rogues gallery.
Please read and share with your networks. I have unlocked each report so truth can be accelerated.
Monsters are less scary in daylight. Why I do this… to expose and defang them, and because someone has to do it.
And then there were 13…
