Hold Your Cheeseburgers: Leticia James vs Tom Homan?

It seems the FBI video recorded border czar Tom Homan in September of 2024 receiving $50K in cash secreted in a fast food bag for future considerations regarding contracts.
The WH announced over the weekend that there was nothing to see here meaning that the FBI investigation had unearthed a lack of evidence supporting federal charges of criminality.
The WH also put out there a public gripe that the DOJ was not moving fast enough in terms of prosecuting past perceived enemies of President Trump including former FBI Director James Comey and current New York State Attorney General Letitia James, who headed up a successful New York State civil litigation against the Trump Organization, resulting in a multimillion-dollar fine against the President’s main business, which Trump is appealing.
But hold your cheeseburgers since we all know the wheels of justice turn slowly, but there is still time for Tom Homan to be brought to justice. It just not might be the Feds doing the investigating and the prosecuting barring the designation of a Special Prosecutor and bringing in some expert federal ‘follow the money’ Feds like the IRS to track the disposition of that $50K.
There is an alternative investigative/prosecutorial track regarding the czar and it is saucy!
What are the chances that Tom Homan reported the $50K cash payoff money video recorded as being received by him in a fast food bag in September 2024 on his income tax returns — both federal and state?
If the czar received the cash in September 2024, he would have been obliged to report the cash seven months later by April 15, 2025 to the respective tax authorities.
The Al Capone prosecution established for all time that income from illegal sources/ativities are just as taxable as income from legal sources. It is well known that Al Capone was prosecuted by the Feds for violations of Title 26 Sections 7201, and it is not as well known that many states possess state tax laws that closely track the federal tax law.
New York is one of those states whose tax law closely resembles the Internal Revenue code, particularly when it comes to criminal violations of the law.
In what state does Tom Homan reside? Wikipedia suggests that Homan is a longtime resident of West Carthage, New York. Did Czar Homan report all $50K in cash received in September 2024 on his 2024 New York State income tax return?
If the answer is NO then Homan has a problem.
If he intentionally omitted some or all the cash received from his return he could be prosecuted criminally.
Who might do that?
Wait for it…
The Attorney General of New York State charged with prosecuting criminal violations of the New York State tax laws is the aforementioned Letitia James.
So what are you saying here, Marty?
Is there is any possibility that Letitia James could prosecute Tom Homan for tax fraud while simultaneously being herself prosecuted by the Department of Justice?
It could happen!
It will depend on the strength of the evidence and charges brought against both, and then there are some political issues to be sorted out.
The wheels of justice are well known to grind slowly, and it could take a whole lot of Big Macs before we know how this massive drama will play out.
