Although she won the Academy Award for her performance and it was well deserved, it was a consolation prize for getting robbed for her brilliant portrayal of Mildred in ‘Of Human Bondage.’ She was on loan out to RKO from Warner Bros., who sabotaged her victory. Mildred was the first ice-bitch to ever grace the silver screen and cemented Bette as a legend in her 20s.)
