Bette’s Happy Hour — a weekly wellness checkin for global newsies
Tuesday Oct. 3, 5 pm PT — after last week’s yoga session, I think I’ll be stretching during our Happy Hours. Wasn’t Eddie wonderful? Thanks to our generous members, Eddie would love to come back and offer us another session, and Tuesday, we’ll discuss if we would like to do yoga once a month. Also, if news breaks, we often are joined by special guests.

Early memories include shaking hands with Cesar Chavez at a union hall; marching with my family after church to honor Dr. King the Sunday after his murder. I had good parents who taught me to fight for justice. Please don’t tell me to ‘get a job.’ I worked since I was 16 and I get to retire. IT FEELS GOOD TO FIGHT FASCISTS.”
Bette’s Founder’s Day — Special Guest Zarina Zabrisky, live from Kherson, Ukraine
Sunday, October 15, 1:30 pm — Author/poet/war correspondent Zarina Zabrisky, a US citizen currently reporting from Ukraine, will be our next Founder’s Day guest. Our latest RadPod interview with her, which will be published tomorrow, is gut-wrenching. She is reporting from Kherson, which is sustaining heavy fire, and she is one of only two journalists reporting from the battered city, and describes it as “being hunted”. She said Russia is committing genocide in darkness, because there are too few reporting on what is actually happening on the ground. Her work documenting Russian war crimes from Ukraine was featured in the film, Under Deadly Skies — Ukraine’s Eastern Front, and she is currently working with war photojournalist Paul Conroy to produce another film documenting the crimes being committed against the people of Ukraine daily.
