Author’s Note: This guest op-ed originally appeared in Alex Alvarova’s substack, Alex’s Diary / Mutiny of Mayhem Mother. I encourage everyone to give her a follow. She writes from the perspective of having grown up under Soviet rule in what is now the Czech Republic. I am cross-posting one of her latest posts here. Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of seeing Bruce Springsteen live understands how powerful a performer he is, and I am very grateful he is using his platform to speak truth to power.—hsc
Born in the USA: Donald Trump Just Met His Ultimate Nemesis
If there’s anyone who might actually bring down Donald Trump, it’s definitely not the Democrats. This might be the first revolution of boomers in history, writes Alex Alvarova
The hallmark of every dictator is that they’re a snowflake. Just look at Putin. He needs to shoot journalists who tell the truth, threaten others into photographing him “finding” staged amphorae underwater, and smooth his botoxed face just right for the camera.
So when America’s most famous pop icon, Taylor Swift, publicly displayed nothing but utter contempt for the American Snowflake in Charge, people instinctively predicted: a wounded army of American incels, weaponized by Trump’s cult and radicalized by years of psychological warfare, would launch a full-on assault.
White men—whose pain and loneliness have become fertile ground for Russian psy-ops—rushed to tear apart the very idea that young women could be rich, talented, and independent.
Donald Trump is a man raised in Queens, in a second-rate mob family pretending to do real estate to stay close to the Genovese crime syndicate. His whole life has been about perfecting the illusion of money and power.
Maybe, as a boy, he dreamed of something different. Maybe he wanted to run away and join the circus, to hear the cheers of a dazzled crowd. But instead, he was forced to inherit a failing family farm with three cows and a shady accountant. And the dream of standing in the spotlight, adored by women, never went away. It wouldn’t have been the first time Trump tried to hijack a rock concert and leech off someone else’s glory like a tapeworm.
Trump’s relationship with women is textbook incel case. He spent his life pretending to be rich so that women could pretend to love him.
Only this time, a new player entered the ring. And it wasn’t woman. It was the Boss.
America’s wannabe boss came face to face with the real one.
Bruce Springsteen is everything Donald Trump can never be. He’s a man. Women would love him even if he had nothing. His body still radiates charisma, even though he’s only two years younger than Trump. He plays the guitar. He has millions. And best of all—men love him too. Especially the ones that Steve Bannon and Fox News have been training to worship Donald Trump and hate America since 2013.
They’re the disillusioned ones. The white working-class men without college degrees, beaten down by life and by the system. The ones Trump thought belonged to him. His crowd. The ones who were supposed to die on digital barricades for him.
Bruce Springsteen stepped onto a stage in Manchester and did what no one else dared: he looked Trump’s cowardice, vindictiveness, and emasculated soul right in the eye and called it out.
“There’s some very weird, strange and dangerous shit going on out there right now. In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now.”
Let’s not forget: it was Bruce who once destroyed Richard Nixon’s carefully manufactured image by singing the bitter truth to Vietnam veterans. He told them what it really means to be Born in the U.S.A.—a song that American right-wingers still don’t understand. A song not about triumph, but about betrayal. A patriotic scream not of pride, but of grief.
And it was Nixon’s grotesque little apprentice, Roger Stone, who later tattooed Nixon’s face on his own back, hoping that someone, somewhere might mistake him for a man with identity.
Donald Trump, like Putin, is a man whose masculinity was shattered in service to organized crime—and who now claws his way back to it over corpses and lies.
No wonder the only people who can truly wound them are men who already possess everything they will forever chase in vain. And the army of men can feel the vibe.
The Boss has balls. The Boss can do it.—Alex Alvarova for Bette Dangerous, originally published in Alex’s Diary / Mutiny of Mayhem Mother, May 21, 2025
