Carving out time for self care, whatever that looks like for you, is vital in this information war. That was the inspiration for Bette’s Happy Hour — just how much better I felt after joining Ruth and Jim’s weekly group meetings. Being around people who understand that we are war offers me great comfort.

Yesterday’s Founder’s Day with filmmaker Melissa Jo Peltier was incredible, and I will recap what we learned this week. She inspires me to never forget my humanity and to always know that so much for what we battle are frightened humans who lash out rather than seek help. Her film about disillusioned Trump supporters — The Game Is Up — is an important document of these trouble times. Her firsthand experience of interviewing Trump and meeting a needy, insecure man is a good reminder that many of the monsters I write about are also tragedies.

Just a reminder, each week we alternate the time so as many people from around the world can checkin. Our Happy Hour time for tomorrow is at 5 pm PT, which is 8 pm New York time.

Although the Happy Hour was inspired as a wellness check, where we each offer suggestions of how we stay well during trouble times, it’s okay that we also chat about breakers and fears. That’s part of how of we do this as a community — empathy, listening, sharing.
