When I asked retired IRS criminal investigator Martin Sheil his thoughts on the ‘weird’ wars, I decided I had to run them in their entirety in an open ‘Letters to Bette’ format

Today my report on Why ‘Weird’ Works’ was published in Byline Supplement:
As I was pulling together my reporting for that piece, I reached out to such luminaries as Paul Niland, Dr. Charles Kriel, Dr. Michael MacKay, Nadine Smith, High Fidelity, Alex Alvarova, and Martin Sheil.
Marty, a retired IRS criminal investigator who has reported many times on these pages, sent me back a response so delightful, I am sharing every word with you.

I was struck by how normal DJT's response was to the initial question posed to him by the NABJ panel - ‘Why Black voters should trust him given his long history of racist comments?’
The MAGA king responded by attacking the panel as rude and the questioning journalist from ABC as "fake news."
This wasn't weird on Trump's part.
It was his normal.
It is what he does.
When cornered with his own words Trump lashes out.
It is what we have come to expect.
That is Trump.
Trump does it so often we see it as normal. Trump weirding out repeatedly is his norm.
It is what he does.
Why is anyone surprised?
We have become mentally anesthetized to Trump's weirdness because it is repeated so often that Trump has become his own verbal disinformation machine !!!!
Trump frequently uses the refrain "Trust me" as a conversational default while he cogitates on another lie to spew in the same vocal paragraph.
Next time Trump says "Trust me,” force yourself to stop and ask yourself the following question:
Why?
Why should anyone trust someone who says “Trust me” so much...
Why trust someone who has:
repeatedly cheated on his partners?
repeatedly cheated in business?
chiseled aspiring students of Trump University out of their tuition?
cheated dozens if not hundreds of contractors and sub-contractors out of contractually obligated payments?
used monies from a non-profit for political contribution purposes?
cheated banks, insurance companies and local government property tax officials out of knowing his true net worth and the correct value of his assets?
attempted to steal an election?
regularly cheats on the golf course?
Why would anyone trust someone who claims to have done more for Jewish people than anyone else?
Why would anyone trust someone who claims to have done more for Black people than anyone since Abraham Lincoln?
Why would anyone trust someone who says he can solve the Ukraine war in ONE day?
Why would anyone trust someone who fell in love with Kim Jung On?
Why would anyone trust someone who waved around a stolen Top Secret document at a public country club event?
Why trust someone who trusts Putin more than his own National Security Agency?
Why trust someone who lies about having sex with a porn star despite evidence to the contrary?
Why trust someone who selected as his VP nominee someone who derides women without children as "cat ladies"?
Why trust someone who looked forward to the hanging of his first VP for his alleged act of disloyalty?
Why trust someone who tells Christians that if they vote him into office they won't have to vote again (!)?
And seriously, why trust someone who is a convicted felon to be President of the US (!!!!!!!!)?
And finally, why trust someone who says he will "only" be a Dictator for one day?????!!!!!
Trust ME - that's weird !!!!
It is what he does.
Weirding is what Trump does and what we expect Trump to do. It is his norm.
We need to call him on it every time he does it.
More than that -
We need to vote for his opponent ... and more than that...
We need to send his sorry WEIRD butt to jail where he belongs since no sanitarium will take him why?
Because
Trump is too WEIRD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS - H - I could go on but my fingers got tired and I would rather watch the Olympics then think about Trump's weirdness
