‘The Russian Federation is a Terrorist Regime’ - And Other Useful Slogans
Ep66 of RADICALIZED Truth Survives features an interview with Dr. Michael MacKay - a Canadian academic and geopolitical analyst who has chronicled Russia’s aggression daily for nine years
Nothing is a substitute for watching the full-length episodes of RadPod - we interview the greatest minds of our times to expose both the fascist creep and cognitive warfare from global, historic perspectives.
Our team exposes what lurks under the headlines, and the news we break becomes mainstreamed weeks, months, and even years later. My podcast partner High Fidelity has been warning about Prigozhin’s influence campaigns in Africa for 18 months, and that story is just now widely breaking.
Because I was a nightlife columnist for the Los Angeles Times while also working as an undercover investigative producer in broadcast news, I see the world with Philip Marlowe eyes - peering down dark alleyways, but still able to hear the jazz spilling into the night.
A hopeful detective for the people.
All the guests on RadPod are intentional. We want to share what they know with as many people as we can reach.
Our guest for Ep66 - three-time RadPod champ, Dr. Michael MacKay - returned to update us on Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, but also to give us the proper words to fight fascism.
I found Dr. MacKay on Twitter a few years ago, giving daily updates on the war in Ukraine, while also offering incredibly biting insights into Trump-Russia. He often corrects reporters from using the words of the invaders.
I asked him why words are so important, and he said because “words are action.” Like Jason Stanley, he cited Hannah Arendt.
He said she talked about words as action, in the terms of political action, she put words at the top because it’s what shapes political narrative.
The words employed by corporate media covering the war in Ukraine is like in “World War II, if they were reporting from Berlin instead of London,” he said.
He gave me the gift years ago of these words:
“Trump is a fake rich guy.”
He gave me two of my favorite frameable Tweets:
FRAMEABLE TWEET: “I can understand Trump in all this. He's a bankrupt grifter and working as a money-launderer for the Putin-Kremlin crime syndicate pumps him up as a fake rich guy.”-@mhmck
FRAMEABLE TWEET: “Not defeating Russia's invasion of Crimea and Donbas led to Russia falsifying the U.S. election and putting Putin puppet Trump in the White House. Not removing Trump as Ukrainians removed Yanukovych led to the insurrection and attack on the Capitol.”-@mhmck
You see what I mean about Michael’s ability to cut right through propaganda to get to the heart of things?
So while we had him on the show, I thought it would be a good idea to mine his brain for great slogans to help us beat back fascism.
Here are some of his offerings. Please share widely.
Crimea is the homeland of the Crimean Tatar people, who consider themselves Ukrainians.
The Russian invaders are occupiers imposing a slow-motion genocide on the Crimean Tatars.
Ukraine is the vanguard of the West - it is a quintessentially European country.
The Russian people are illegal colonizers.
Words are action - as much a part of the war effort as sending troops to the front.
I see Putin’s delay as an irrational fatalism, like Hitler in the bunker, when the Russians were surrounding Berlin.
There’s nothing left but the propaganda.
The Russian Federation is not a nation state - it is a terrorist regime.
Russia is the residue of an empire.
The only result that makes any sense is victory for Ukraine, and defeat for the Russian Federation.
2016 was the year when the elite capture of the Republican Party by Russia was completed.
(Re Brexit) The Russian’s illegally financed Vote Leave.
(Re Twitter) It doesn’t have to be a pro-Russia narrative, it just has to be an anti-truth narrative, and that suits Russia just fine
(Re wedge issues) Russia has a common interest in pouring gasoline on existing flames.
When Putin says Crimea is and always be will be Russia, I say, Hitler said Danzig is and always will be a German city.
Trump to Putin is just another Yanukovych.
Please re-read each slogan, and please memorize and recite often.
In addition, among the key reports I have written with gems from MacKay are:
Please have a listen to his entire interview, and please share with anyone who is confused about why we need to support Ukraine. Like America, Ukraine was first attacked with propaganda, then low level chaos and destabilization events and then an invasion covered up nine years ago with propaganda words. I dare say, things look weird in Florida, which is run by a fascist whose campaign director and former press secretary is a registered foreign agent.
Patterns repeat.
