The Karma of Untruthfulness
What contract actors hired to spread lies fail to recognize is the mind they are hacking could be their own
Saturday was beautiful, but I almost missed it. My head was focused on information warfare and the escalation of personal attacks.
I was pondering the kind of person who takes contracts to lie about others — what happened to them that they’d be willing to permanently trash their credibility. It’s a sad thing, to either be so desperate or so nihilistic that money takes priority over integrity.
I learned from Ruth Ben-Ghiat that if we were living in an authoritarian country, one out of four people would be informants.
I learned from Navalny campaigner Dmitrii Kovegin that people in Russia already feel mentally imprisoned. I also learned from Dmitrii that people in Russia can no longer see reality.
And one of the most important lessons he taught me:
“Putin envies the United States’ trust in one another,” he said. “Trust is crucial in American society… Compassion to another person would not be able if there would be no trust.”
We are dealing with a player hater, writ large.
“Putin envies the United States. He wants to rob the humanity. He claims that Russia doesn’t have boundaries. Putin wants to be everywhere. Do you want spies, killers, and crazy people camped out on your lawn who spread their hatred in society, or do you want to organize against them. Just do your part, analyze, demand, and go forward. It’s not just Putin, but his hand puppets — like Medvedev — it’s the state, parroting Putin’s words. It’s not a fight against ideology anymore. The ideology of Russia is just go wherever they can go. If we can stop them, we have to do something to stop them.”—Dmitrii Kovegin
If we can cut off the money supply that funds paid operations to harm people’s reputation in Zersetzung campaigns, false narratives of hatred would recede, which is why I focus on American Monsters and the 2016 Election Attack — therein, lies the money.
But what I think contract actors who take money to lie fail to recognize is the mind they are f**king could be their own.
I learned that from Keir Giles NATO Handbook on Information Warfare.
In my thread on his work from 2019, I recall learning that Russian’s information warfare against target nations initially caused widespread surprise — torpedoing minds and control networks. But one of the great dangers of the Kremlin believing its own lies is it might act on them.
When creating unreality and forcing people to live in it is public policy, “the leadership may very well believe what it tells its own subjects” and find “usefulness (in) extracting greater sacrifices from them.”
“The dangerous implication of Russian leaders believing what they tell their subjects is the possibility that they could also then act on that belief.”—Keir Giles
So the madness continues, as US traitors in America seem to be huffing their own lies, as they platform genocidal fascists as if that’s normal.
Or maybe, like Tucker Carlson, they don’t believe the lies and they’re just contract players, platforming genocidal Nazi Alexsandr Dugin because it’s in the contract.
As I was pondering what variation of MICE — money, ideology, compromise, ego — creates willing purveyors of hate in America, I walked by a used bookstore and flashed on a title in the window:
The Karma of Untruthfulness
It was a compilation of World War 1-era lectures by Rudolf Steiner, an avowed anti-fascist and exposer of propagandists.
I’ve always marveled how the universe sends indirect signs, but I needed that phrase exactly in that moment.
The Karma of Untruthfulness
The psychic shift was immediate, like a weight had been lifted.
Suddenly, I could see the beautiful day around me, and I heard more words from Dmitrii Kovegin:
“Keep believing in yourself, and help each other anyway you can afford to. Be ready and don’t go to sleep until your work is done.”—Dmitrii Kovegin
I’ll keep doggedly doing the work I do, and let karma take care of the lying bastards.
By the way, disgraced former Trump advisor Mike Flynn now says his brother Joe also received subpoenas.
Big, if true.
