If Democrats had even a fraction of loyalty that Republicans show to the worst among them, we wouldn’t be in such a precarious situation.
This isn’t Bachelorette — we’re not waiting to see who gets the rose.
This is a Putin-run world vs the continuation of the post-World War II progressive world order of which the United States plays a key role.
Before Joe Biden was elected, our allies had started to speak of the US as part of a new Axis of Evil. Since Joe Biden rolled up his sleeves as the public servant he is, our allies no longer speak of us that way.
You don’t change horses in midstream. You go with the guy who’s been doing the job — the guy who put us back in the Paris Accord, the guy who’s trying to save the North Atlantic Right Whale, the guy who gets the call from other world leaders who need advice, because he didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. And it’s not about one man — it’s about an administration that unlike the previous administration doesn’t include dozens of convicted felons aligned with Vladimir Fucking Putin.
Shake it off.
As my podcast partner Jim Stewartson said in a video he released on Twitter titled Mood:
My fellow Americans,
Get a grip. This isn't an election about two men, regardless of what you think of either. This is an election about fascism or democracy about a theocratic autocracy, or a constitutional republic. It's about Americans running the government or the fucking Russians running the government. It's about whether my kids and your kids and my grandchildren and your grandchildren are going to be free. Shake it off.
Democrats don’t have the luxury of being a shitshow this year — we are facing off against the Russian war machine and US collaborators. Get back to work. Support Biden/Harris. Stop making it so easy for our enemies to manipulate our minds, which then manipulates the outcomes of OUR elections.
And by the way, women of color have been saving our democracy for decades. Should Kamala Harris have to step into Joe’s shoes, I am fine with that.

I wrote a comment yesterday suggesting that the Biden campaign enlist prominent public people from across the non-MAGA spectrum to give voice to his message...our message. He is simply not the best person to do it. I suggested pairing movie stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger with George Clooney, music icons like Dolly Parton with Bruce Springsteen, sports figures like Magic Johnson and Big Papi...people like that would be taking a risk to their brands (and their endorsement contracts), but they are insulated by vast wealth already. Some of them would do it, and these people don’t stutter, and know how to deliver lines. Maybe even Taylor and Travis...
