Save the Date - ‘Speakeasy’ with Jen Senko
Next Bette Dangerous ‘Speakeasy’ 2/26, 4 pm PT… plus, more succulents
A little birdie told me it was going to rain the rest of the week, so I went back to the Huntington Gardens and snapped more photos of succulents. The response to my Bloomcore post featuring images of brilliant alien plant forms was so positive, I felt compelled to share more with you. You’ll find them at the bottom of this missive.
Save the date - Sunday, February 26, 4 pm PT; paid members will receive an invite to our bimonthly gathering on Zoom, where we feature special guests. The last Zoom with bestselling author Craig Unger was phenomenal. I do not record these Zooms as I want these to be safe spaces for members to share and also like a good party - you either showed up or heard about it.
This Sunday’s guest is award-winning filmmaker and author Jen Senko, director of “The Brainwashing of My Dad” - about how Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and anti-democrat propaganda emails radicalized her liberal father to right-wing extremism. And how her family managed to bring him back.
Please consider joining with an annual membership, which is currently less than $5 a month. Next 6 members who sign up for an annual membership will receive a copy of my ebook, “It’s Komprocated,” if they would like to have one. And those of you wish to gift memberships, please respond to this email directly or email heidicuda@yahoo.com. In the last week, Bette members have generously sponsored eight new members!
We just featured Jen on the latest episode of RadPod, and it would be great if you watched her film and our interview before the event. Those who wish to support independent artists may also want to consider buying her book, which gave her an opportunity to include additional research that wasn’t in her film.
And if you watch RadPod’s interview with Jen, you will learn her film was optioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber!
In addition, here are some moving quotes from both her film and our interview:
“My brother became very fact resistant,” said one distraught woman, who was interviewed for the film.
In regards to how it came to pass that Rush Limbaugh and Fox News was played on military bases, Jen said:
“Republicans are like scary big cry babies, they play the victim, and that is why Fox is still on military bases today. Hello, that shouldn’t be,” she said.
She said we can look to great leaders of the past for ideas on how to move forward.
“FDR had a big set - he got rid of Tokyo Rose,” she said. “How is Fox any less vile and treasonous than Tokyo Rose? Fox is tearing our country apart, and we’re not going to do anything about it? At least get it out of the fucking military. I can say ‘fuck,’ can’t I?” (Author’s note: Lol).
And one of my favorite quotes from our interview:
“We all want to be good people and do the right thing, but in war, all bets are off. We have to fight back,” she said.
Indeed.
Look forward to seeing paid members at the Sunday ‘Speakeasy.’ Invites to register will be sent out on Sunday morning.

Bette Dangerous is a reader-funded magazine and Substack bestseller. Thank you to all monthly, annual, and founding members. Thank you, as well, to those who support my work with coffee tips and who buy my ebooks. My reflection, Confessions of a ‘Fox Blonde’ was recently published in Byline Supplement. In a review of my latest ebook, the erotic novella Fox Undercover, I’ve been called “The punk rock Anaïs Nin” and author Greg Olear called it “The Big Sleep 2.0” except with “not so much sleep happening.”
More info about Bette Dangerous - This magazine is written by Heidi Siegmund Cuda, an Emmy-award winning investigative reporter, author, and veteran music and nightlife columnist. She is the cohost of RADICALIZED Truth Survives, an investigative show about disinformation and is part of the Byline Media team. Thank you for your support of independent investigative journalism.

And now, more succulents.

Snow plowing, shoveling, coupled with subzero temps are the downsides, which I’ve had more than my share of! I’ve seldom stayed in this country over winter… sigh!
Sadly, I’ll be on the road Sunday... after the nasty blizzard of the week ends. Thanks Heidi for the beautiful succulent pics, a welcome sight from snow!
