We just gained a lovely new member who is a longtime activist, and she reminded me why I got into this fight to begin with — for environmental and climate justice, which I will be writing more about soon.

ICYMI - Yesterday I shared the delightful sounds of a northern mockingbird who starts singing his wee heart out every morning at 5 am. Here is that birdsong in case you missed it:

I also spotted four bluebirds on my evening walk, one of whom let me get very close, and I acknowledged that exquisite moment.

On Tuesday, at Bette’s Happy Hour, I will share with our community how wild birds love bombed me out of corporate broadcast TV news — how I was literally surrounded by birds everywhere I went, and how when I walked out of the building where I had worked for 15 years, I drove to a bird sanctuary and watched barn swallows for hours. That was the beginning of becoming a birder.

By sharing the birdsong yesterday, a member of the Bette community sent me this gift, a WaPo article about how birdsong is good for our mental health.

So my first exquisite moment of the day was due to her thoughtfulness. My second exquisite moment of the day came when I applauded myself for having made two brutal writing deadlines (now, only one to go). Wow.

I have had a morning of exquisite moments — the RadPod team just finished an interview with our upcoming ‘Speakeasy’ guest, geopolitical analyst Monique Camarra, which will be dropping as a breaker tomorrow. We talked about the West’s ‘Coalition of the Willing,’ and the words I shared with you from Timothy Snyder on how the West got snookered by propaganda and missed the War of 2014. We also talked about Meloni’s ‘soft fascism’ — how she’s trying to have it both ways by playing nice with the EU for money while attempting to adopt reviling ethnonational domestic policies.
