FEBRUARY 24, 2024 — Exposing Mike Johnson
On the second-anniversary of the large-scale invasion of Russia’s 10-year war of aggression, I am investigating Mike Johnson—a US Putinist who took Russian blood money
“I think in 100 years, historians will be writing about the war in Ukraine… A lot of the things that seem very important to us right now… are going to disappear into the mists of time. Whether Ukraine wins or loses, which is very much up to the United States, very much up to the Biden administration, is something that historians are going to be writing about in 100 years.”
—Timothy Synder, Into the Mists of Time
Much will be written today, but none of it will amount to a hill of beans until Mike Johnson and the cell of US Putinists stop fellating a war criminal. What happens in this war is directly related to what the US does or does not do.
My goal with my words and in these pages is to be of maximum service so at 1 am on Thursday morning, I followed a lead I’d been given about Mike Johnson, who was forced to return 2018 campaign money when it was exposed that it came from three Russian oligarchs. I knew that part already — it took me 30 seconds to find the first whiff of Russian cash after this no-name dweeb was named Speaker.
But the more important part of the story is that one of the Russians owns a munitions factory — he actually supplies the ammunition that is being used to commit genocide in Ukraine. This, while soldiers in Ukraine are having to count their low supply of ammo.
Working 13 hours straight, I pulled thread after thread to get to the money shot — Johnson is a cynical joint production of Robert Mercer and the Council for National Policy, with ties to Tony Perkins and a network of Russian war criminals.
But it you want to know Johnson’s world view, just read the Bible, he says. I’ve read the Bible. Nowhere does it say thou shalt side with the Russian billionaire invaders who make the ammunition that kills people trying to defend their land.
That one of the Russian oligarchs that Johnson took money from in 2018 also funded Maria Butina would explain Johnson’s awe shucks NRA promo.
Please read my thread here.
And please note all of this rides on what we do. My focus will be on continuing to expose the US Putinists for the traitors they are until they are forced to retreat to Moscow, and we can get on with the business of democracy.
My teams have done much work reporting from the frontlines this year, and if you search these pages you will find important reports from war correspondents Zarina Zabrisky and Paul Conroy, Ukrainian soldier and filmmaker Volodymyr Demchenko, historian Timothy Snyder, author Keir Giles, and geopolitical analyst Michael Mackay. I urge you to review them when you have time, but most importantly, join me in applying pressure to get Mike Johnson the fuck out of Congress.
He is not serving the US Constitution or the will of the people. He serves Putin.
Finally, as I read this morning about the purge of Ukrainian literature in Crimea under the Russian occupiers, I am reminded of how dangerous writers are to the brutes and the goons.
On this grave day, that we writers are dangerous gives me some kind of comfort.
