Bette’s Membership Drive — ‘It’s What We Do’
As I approach more milestones in this year of living dangerously, please help me build and strengthen our community
Thank you to everyone who showed up today for a walk-through on Mike Johnson’s ties to Russian and US oligarchs. It’s staggering when you zoom out and see all the obfuscated connections to those closest to Putin.
I will have a Bette Dangerous report that lays it out asap, as I realize that many of you do not have Twitter access so were not able to read my original thread on Johnson from last week. Shout out to Marty for the Happy Hour tip off to a Johnson 2018 campaign donor being tied to a Russian oligarch providing munitions for Russia’s genocidal war in Ukraine. Thankful as well for his excellent Sunday letter. Thanks to HiFi for his assistance on my original thread.

As a report just came out today from Norway’s intelligence agencies documenting that Russian espionage is increasingly being carried out by “ordinary citizens” as sanctions forced the expulsion of the usual spies under diplomatic cover, I feel it’s more important than ever to maintain my mission of independent investigative reporting during a time of grave deception.
As Anne Nelson told us at a recent Bette’s Happy Hour, “it’s what we do.”

I have made much of my archives free and available, but a paid membership not only supports this work, it gains you access to archives, podcasts, and community event invites.
In this changing world, reporting became “free” and with it came the rise and proliferation of free right-wing “news” sites of obscured origin, designed to hack minds and poison the infosphere.
I don’t think there’s ever been a time in history when being an independent investigative reporter mattered more.
