As we see media obey in advance and we see tech oligarchs paying the inauguration vig, it is more vital than ever to support independent investigative reporters, pro-democracy activists, historians, and fascism scholars and the easiest way to do that is to subscribe to their Substacks. I profoundly understand how difficult it is to make a dollar out of 15 cents, and that is why I offer so many specials here at Bette.

It is my goal to keep building this community, which has so graciously allowed me to remain an independent voice in this time of grave peril. I am so grateful.
Rather than reacting to the daily news cycle of pain, I am investing more time in reading important books so I can offer a deeper, more useful perspective on what we are going through. That historic framework will serve us well in coming days and years, I think.
Lastly, I was traveling last week and ran out of time to invite Bette members to watch RadPod & Chill, the weekly livestream recap of RadPod’s latest episode. Jim and I are working on being less sweary since our friend Thom Hartmann has been inviting us on his radio show. I think this might have been our finest hour lol. HiFi’s beautifully produced openers are a highlight. For those who do not know, my podcast partner High Fidelity is in chronic pain from an accident two decades ago where he broke his spine. He kicked opioids and instead uses marijuana to ease the pain. The original idea behind RadPod & Chill was being at the virtual bar with chums, as we recap the latest Ep of RADICALIZED Truth Survives podcast. I drink ginger tea with extra Vitamin C and try to time my sips in between those two fellows making me laugh, which I consider very good medicine. Judging by the vibrant chat during our livestreams, our community also considers the laughter good for the soul. Shoutout to RadPod’s Patreon community. Small but mighty.
